Zeke’s Fireside Chat

Zeke’s Fireside Chat is the last post of 2017.

Since I am the Editor-in-Chief, I decided to take over the fireside chat from Opie.  She is a bit hissy and swatty about it, but she will get over it. Christmas passed pleasantly with no bad surprises and some snow!   We like to celebrate 12 days and keep at least some but not all of our decorations up through the 6th of January.

Cold weather does not bother me. I am a Maine Coon!

A couple days before Christmas, Marigold slipped into the garage secretly, and when she came out, she had a hurt leg and was limping around.  Went to the vet, who said she was not serious and should heal, which she did, and she is walking around normally now.  Try to keep cats out of garages!  I don’t go out there myself.

I am happy to report this is the fourth year in a row with no one here crossing the Rainbow Bridge.  That is a real blessing!  We want to thank all our readers for their support.  The Feline Cafe has been more successful this year than any other year by all measures of success!  Thank you all old friends and new friends alike!

  1. Hello Zeke,
Oliver here, I know how hard it is to get some blog time. There are some in The Tribe of Five who are a bit pushier than others! Wishing you all a purrrrfect 2018!

  2. Aah that Marigold and the garage. So glad she is ok. I love the fire and so does Zeke. He knows a good thing when he sees it. You are fortunate to have young and healthy cats. Most of mine are old an wearing out. I have “lost” one dog and two cats- one pet a week for the past three weeks. I see another one that is not going to make it much longer. I have spent money that I should not have spent . But I am foolish sometimes.

    1. If there is a reasonable amount of hope for a sick animal, I am all in. I spent $ a lot bringing Scooby back from the brink of a severe diabetes attack and I am glad I did. He has been in remission ever since. I had several cats with cancer. Treatment would only prolong things for months, so I let them go–at home holding them by the way. Sorry about your pet losses.

  4. Klar, die Deko muss bis zum 06.Januar bleiben, aber ist hier auch üblich weil ja dann erst so richtig Weihnacht gefeiert wird (die Geschenke).

    1. In my part of Germany you get the gifts on the 24th. It must be a Russian part of Germany where you get your gifts on the 6th – or an Italian one – those two countries distribute the gifts on the 6th of January. In the Netherlands it’s the 6th, too, but already in December.

    1. Zeke is the only one who will go out there for more than a minute. I saw small footprints in the snow coming out of the woods and up to the catio and around it yesterday. Zeke probably knows who they belong to. A fireplace is always good for a quick warm up. Thanks for your visit and comment.

  5. Hoping for another great year where no one crosses the Rainbow Bridge! Meep snuck out into the garage a couple of times. The last time he did it, I pretended I was a ghost and scared the life out of him. He goes out there no mo’, 😀

  6. Wow Zeke! This is the first time I’ve noticed that your catio has plants on the ground! So cool! I’m still waiting for Mom to make me one. And after reading about Marigold’s injury from the garage I kind of get why Mom never lets me go in ours!
