Scooby’s Gotcha Day (Oct 13 2015)

Scooby’s gotcha day was six years ago. There are a few photos of him at PetSmart when I picked him up; some other photos of when he first came home. He didn’t know what to make of it. He was given up by his owner with the cryptic line: “Can’t take care of him anymore.” According to his old med records he was 5 1/2 years old when I got him. He has some peculiar habits so I wonder about his previous home. I think he was raised with dogs as he acts more like a dog than a cat! Strange but true! He came already leash trained. The first time he saw our leash he jumped around like a dog knowing he was going out, and patiently got harnessed up. So here are a few of the earliest memories.

  2. Someone told me that orange tabbies are more “like dogs” in their behavior. (I put the dog part in quotes because I think there’s a stereotype about cats being aloof, snotty, ungrateful, unfriendly, etc. I had one cat who was really feral—she was rescued from a swamp and was scared to death of people—who was all of those things, but my other cats have been affectionate, playful, and faithful, just like a dog!) Sunny hates collars and leashes, but she loves curling up next to me in bed and welcomes me with yelps when I come home. She doesn’t do tricks, which I find humiliating to animals anyway, but when it’s dinnertime she runs to her bowl and meows and jumps around my feet. I think you got a gem in Scooby—those pictures show it from Day 1! But Sunny would say all orange tabbies are the best. 😉

    1. I had a yellow tabby once and he very much fit your description. Scooby if my eyes don’t deceive me is a red or ginger tabby but has many of the same characteristics. I think it may be tabby traits. thanks for your comment.
