At the urging of the Tabbies o Trout Towne I decided to repost my father’s valentines which he had saved. After he died I found a large collection of cards in a box he saved as a child from different holidays. Valentines were the most numerous by far. These run from 1917 to 1928 but most are from the early 1920’s. In other words 100 years old plus or minus a few years. None have envelopes. Some are postcards like the very last one, some are three D foldouts, some are cutouts which were never cut out. Some were just “ordinary”. The black and white ones are examples of what is to be found inside some of them when opened. I knew some of the relatives family friends whose names are on the cards when I was young. Some of the other valentines may be the only artifacts left behind on earth to show someone lived. If you haven’t seen them I hope you enjoy them. I looked up valentines on the web and did not see any of these but what I did see had little monetary value. Over 90 images are shown below, plus Dad on the family farm. He was the youngest of three brothers and got the hand-me-downs.

Dear Greg, this is so precious collection. How nice you kept them. I loved all of them. Thank you, Love, nia

Those are amazing, Greg! How fun to look at how Valentines used to be. They all look like they are in really good condition too! After reading the comments I had to go back through them again to find the Birthday one!😂

What a treat to see these old Valentines and the picture of your Dad and his friends. My Dad (born in 1902) collected post cards, and I have photos of him with several cats, the white collie pups he raised, horses, and even his prize-winning chickens. What precious memories.

thank you for posting Greg, these are just the BEST…‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️the art work and sentiments can’t be matched….to hellz with AI 😺😺all total I have about 30 maybe from my mom’s collection. the cards with the “lace”….that’s a paper overlay if Im not mistaken, and the black and white look fragile, like you have to be careful handling them-….I like the native American indian card, I’ve never seen one like him 😺appreciate the post and time it took to put it together, your dad’s picture is pawsum awesum too .. happy day to you and opie 💝💘🐟😺‼️

The lace is a paper overlay which can be pulled back to reveal more of the card underneath but I don’t touch it too fragile. A birthday card got in there but no one noticed.

I enjoyed these very much. When my Father bought a house, his last one, he remodeled and there were many Valentines in the wall of all things.
