U Haul I Hauled

U Haul I hauled. The whole story I am about to share can be found with photos at the link at the bottom of this post:

I have been on an emotional roller coaster, and sorry you had to ride along, but be sure today you are locked in because here we go again!!!

First thank you for all your kind comments on Nicholas. I appreciate them.

In November there was a story on the news about an animal hoarder. A woman with a U Haul truck was checked into a local motel. Guests complained about cats out in a parked U Haul truck. Police and animal control called. Twenty cats were locked in the truck cab wanting out. Checking the back police found cages with filthy, starving cats and corpses. The caged cats were desperate to get out of the cages and the dark,un-ventilated truck. 73 cats total which include 10 dead were found. The woman was arrested on several counts $35,000 bail set. .

Tuesday Dec 9 Nicholas died. Thursday Dec 11 was an adopt-a-thon at the shelter for the rescues. We hauled ourselves over there. You know how U Haul paints various states on the sides of their vehicles? There were so many animals to name they named them after the U.S. states and then cities. We adopted a little guy who needed a break. He weighed 3 pounds at rescue. He is named after a state. Next post will document his arrival at his new home. Was it the right thing to do? It is an emotional ride. Time will tell.

The full story is in the link below but it may not work in some countries.

It’s so sad when this happens. Most people who hoard animals are slightly or very mentally ill, and think they are the only ones who can rescue or take care of the animals, meaning they are somewhat delusional. The rescue I volunteer for has handled such cases, it’s hard.

I hope your kitty thrives with you.

I can’t bring myself to read the news article because it makes me sick. I am very, very happy that you brought another little one home to love. When my Bobo passed at age 18 I adopted Cody a mere 2 weeks after he passed. Everybody has to do what is right for them, I agree that it is a wonderful way to honor Nicholas and I applaud your bravery as well as your extremely kind heart.

That is terrible for those poor cats. Things happen for a reason and you were in the right place at the right time. I am sure it was guided by dear Nicholas. He knew you needed another companion and would give one of those poor cats a loving home. Thank you for doing so.

I read this story earlier in my news feed: I don’t know how people can do things like this, except maybe they were mentally ill. It sounded like the woman who had all those cats was homeless and living out of the truck without knowing what to do with all those poor cats. Anyway I think you were at the right place at the right time: some lucky cat is going to a good home where he’ll know love and warmth, and a happy Christmas! Nicholas would approve, I’m sure.

Congratulations on your newest addition. Bringing this little kitty into your heart and home was a leap of faith and an act of love and kindness. Nicholas enjoyed every day he had with you, and this new kitty will too. Many, many days!!!! Those birthday toys will be put to good use.

Oh, I’m so happy for you I’m getting teary-eyed. What an amazing gift of a wonderful home & family you’re giving this little kitten.

Oh Greg ! Somehow Nicholas knew you would go and do where and what was needed. Still with tears of sadness for Nicholas balanced with tears of hope for a new life you helped save. Purrayers to you, the new baby and sweet Opie
