The Invisible cat / hoarder update. More photos of Louie today. We see him invisible and stretching out. Still fighting parasites.
Feb 18 the hoarder had a hearing in court to decide the merits of the case and how to proceed. The judge said the allegations were disturbing. Charges were ten counts of felony animal cruelty–one count for each dead cat recovered. Nothing more. Each count carries a maximum 5 year prison term and/or a $10000 fine. Includes a lifetime ban on owning animals. Unlikely she will get the maximums as murderers get less. She pleaded “Not Guilty”. Bail set at $30000. Jury trial set for Thursday Feb 26. She was giving two kittens in her motel room dried goat milk. Inside were also a dog and two turtles. Don’t worry Louie. No milk of any kind for you!
On the health issue, Louie is getting more medicine for his parasite issue today from the vets. Tough to get rid of. He learned his name quite quickly and comes when called like a dog. He never had a name before. Louisiana Louie sounds like a gambler on a riverboat!

I hope the hoarder has the book thrown at her, but in reality she’ll probably receive just a fine and a prohibition to own any animals, which she’ll disregard as soon as she’s out of the courtroom. There was a similar case in my area where a woman had over 30 chihuahuas in her house, not counting the many dead ones animal control officers found in the yard and elsewhere. She was wealthy and well connected, unfortunately, so she received the minimum sentence, a fine and pet ownership prohibition. Three years later an animal welfare officer found almost the exact circumstances in her house, except she also had miniature poodles and other small dog breeds. No idea what happened after that, but people like her are literally sick. They need to spend time in a psychiatric center, with no access to animals.

It’s a travesty that with all the evidence found, the animal abuser is even allowed to plead ‘not guilty’. She should be locked in a cage and made to feel exactly as those animals felt.
Louie is so lucky to have a second chance with you and your daughter.

Dear Greg, thanks be to you and your wife for rescuing this precious life from the horrors he was in. I hope that person is given the maximum punishment.

FOR THE RECORD, my wife died years ago and my daughter lives with me. I think it would be hard to find an unbiased jury.
