Opie

Opie is a cat that enjoys music. She especially likes when I put a platter on the old record player purchased in 1974. I have an older and larger console model from the 60’s which works perfectly well, but you see I now use it as a TV stand.

I had to protect the cloth over the speakers to prevent the cats from scratching them. My eyesight is poor so I must sit very close to see properly. Opie is waiting for me in my chair. She likes to sit in my lap and watch or sleep. I have several boxes full of records. I do sit and play them now and then. The most used ones are the Christmas albums, which are played in December.

Vintage Christmas Cards

My father kept all the holiday cards he received until 1930. Here are a few. They are all postcards and not folding cards. Some I can exactly date and others I cannot. They are mostly from the 1920’s. Cards do not show any publishers or origin.

Reflections 2

Reflections in a golden eye 2 are more old, but not too old, photographs that were never posted or posted and not seen! During the holiday season, most people are busy shopping, traveling, and all, I am not really going to be much here either.  I just automatically scheduled this post to fire off as a flare today. Perhaps someone will see it–perhaps not!  I wonder how many swats the cats have made in the last week and a half in the previous post–a million–a billion? PHOTOS follow: Continue reading →

Opie on bag with knife

Macbeth

In cat school drama class, today we have Miss Opie performing as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth. Opie, Zeke, and Marigold reprise their roles as the witches in the opening of Macbeth. (Act 1 scene 1 line 1)

When shall we three meet again
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?

When the hurlyburly ’s done,
When the battle ’s lost and won.
  (Macbeth, Act 1.1.1)

(Act 2 Scene 1)

“Is this a dagger which I see before me,
The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.
Opie on bag with knife
I have thee not, and yet I see thee still.
Opie on bag
Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible
To feeling as to sight? or art thou but
A dagger of the mind, a false creation,
Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain?”

Reflections in a golden eye

Marigold

“Reflections in a golden eye”, which will be shortened next time to “Reflections”, is a new series of picture posts drawn from a large collection of photographs which were not posted for some reason or another.  They will not be brand new, but they will not be real old either. The photographs will not be made into stories but randomly remixed to give a cat’s eye reflection of what goes on around the house here on a daily basis. Scooby will be absent.
