12th Blogversary July 24

Twelfth Blogversary. Did not think we would get this far. Of the four cats Opie, Zeke, Marigold, and Scooby, only the oldest–Opie–survived to today. Scooby and Zeke still only gone months. I’ll let Nicholas sit this post out. For twelve years these cats entertained you with their antics. They showed off their catio frequently as it was their favorite place to be. They wore funny hats and clothing, and played with lots of toys for amusement. It is sad for me to look at them as I loved them so much–maybe too much. For you oldtimers I present the Feline Cafe cats one more time for your enjoyment–Opie included.

They we’re such beautiful kitties. And Scooby had great markings. Nicholas seems like a great cat but he can’t replace those who went before. He will have his own spot.

Happy blogversary Greg! They were all very dear kitties. I am glad Opie is still with you, and is a bridge to the old crew for Nicholas. She is probably passing on a lot of stories to him.

Happy 12th blogversary. Thanks for sharing some of the wonderful photos of the kitties, past and present. Seeing beautiful Marigold, Scooby in his plaid harness, and precious Zeke honors their memories. I agree, it’s sometimes hard to look back at photos of all the kitties who are no longer with us, but it also brings back the warmth & joy and knowing that they all had fantastic lives. Opie will continue the tradition, and so will Nicholas.

I know what you mean by feeling sad at seeing old photos of cats who once graced your home. I miss my cats dearly, maybe more than some human family members. When were the photos of Scooby walking in the snow taken? Not that I would know for sure, but I didn’t think the Puget Sound area got that much snow!

I forgot about how good Scooby was on a leash! I was jealous because Sunny, my yellow tabby, never took to a harness or even a collar. Now I remember that storm: my son in Olympia was unable to get to work that day because his street was buried in snow. What infuriated him and his neighbors was the sight of snowplows from the capitol grounds rushing to clear the airport while ignoring the residential streets around them. I don’t think his neighborhood went out to clear their street, though. It was a semi rural county road with no sidewalks, a little dangerous for pedestrians or anyone stepping into the road. But now he’s moving to Seattle, where he’ll be attending law school. Hopefully he’ll be safe there, his new neighborhood is, hmm, marginal.
