What am I thinking? Opie and Scooby

Zeke and Marigold deja vu
Valentines Day has come around again! What do we do on every Valentines Day here? We show some vintage valentines! Where did they come from? When my father was young, he saved his holiday cards, and I inherited them. Valentines are the most numerous followed by Christmas cards. The numbers trail off for the other holidays. This year I picked out many of the 3 dimensional cards for viewing. None of them have been punched out, and I am not going to punch them out either, so you kind of have to use your imagination how they would look or go together. The cards are from the 1920’s. Sorry, but there are no cats on any of them,.

Scooby the cat may be defined as a “social eater”.
I did a little research, with the emphasis on “little”, and found people describing Scooby’s unusual behavior. What does he do? When he is hungry he will come near me and sit and stare at me for as long as it takes for me to get up. Then he leads me to the kitchen where his food bowls are. If they are empty, I give him some food. That sounds like reasonable behavior–I am out of food! More often than not, there is food in the bowl and he just begins eating it. If I walk out of the room, when he notices, he will stop eating and follow me, and do the whole staring routine over again, until I return to the food bowl. Then he eats some more. If he looks like he is about to stop eating, or does stop, if I immediately scratch his head, he eats more. I need to stand there until he is finished. If I leave, he will follow me out, and bother me until I go back to the food bowl and watch him eat. When he is done, then he will wander off. If I am not around, he will eat on his own.

He eats when other cats are eating also OK. There have been no changes in the household whatsoever.

Is this an actual condition or not? I read several explanations. I don’t play with him enough so he does it for attention. Not likely. Or he was confined in a cage for a long time and only ate when a human brought him food. Possible. Or he just likes company. It took me a while to figure out I needed to stay by the bowl until he was done. It would be nice if he would go out into the kitchen and eat on his own. There are no issues with drinking out of water bowls.
This 30 second video is of my cat Zeke, a Maine Coon, in the catio in the rain. He is the only cat that goes out in the rain. Many times he comes inside soaking wet! The noise in the background is falling rain.
There was a gale at night–a nights gale–or could it be a “nighting gale?” It has not been so cold, and the boys really want to go out into the catio in the morning. They wait by the window for me to get out of bed for whatever reason at night. The best way to have peace is for me to just open it and go back to sleep. I check the structure regularly and although it is very old it is still solid. The camera flash illuminates them. When I look out it is so dark I cannot see them or anything else. The camera reveals. What they see only they know, and they are not telling. There is a small stand of tall pines behind the house which is shelter to birds and small animals. The girls do not seem to be interested in going out much any more, especially not at night in the cold and rain..

For the first time ever, I tell you dear Readers that I am having difficulties continuing this blog. I have been doing this since 2013 on WordPress. Doubts happen to everyone, I know, for different reasons. Things seem to be changing here, but I cannot say how or why. There are no health issues. I am very distracted from this to say the least. I plan to try to keep up the pace.
Marigold does not always get the all the air time she deserves. She was arrested by Animal Control at the age of 4 while roaming the mean streets of Tacoma, Washington. She is the only cat I have with “street smarts”. She is going on 15 years old now. So, here she is:
