Snow days

In Snow days, the first wave of snow hit, I took the photos following, and yet more snow came since I took these photos. There was minor damage to trees and shrubbery, but nothing serious. Many thousands lost power, but I managed to hold on to most of mine, and the daily routine was normal, except for some snow shovelling. My cats did not get to go out in the snow. The catio is as close as they came to it. I think they prefer it that way. Scooby has made it clear that even if he is bundled up, he still hates having frozen feet. He needs booties like the Alaska sled dogs running the Iditarod dog sled race.  Seen in the previous post, Zeke likes the cold weather.  Where is Opie, you might ask?  Wanting none of this and in a very warm place.

Snowy snowy night . . .

Much snow has been falling in western Washington. Schools are closed. There are scattered power outages. We are OK. In fact, we seem to have less snow than everywhere else! More snow is coming. Zeke had to go out in the catio before sunrise to check things out. He comes running downstairs from his home under a bed, whenever he hears the catio window open. The catio is partially protected by the roof overhang. He loves to sit out in the weather even when it is bad. That is a trait of the Maine Coon breed. He has a big fur coat to keep him warm.

Scooby sweater

Scooby fashion: New sweater

Scooby got a new sweater with a snowman on it at Christmas past. He is modelling it for you today. It is not like one of those “ugly” Christmas sweaters. He only has it on in the house a few minutes so he does not get overheated. Scooby is my only short-hair cat. He is very good with clothing–but not so good with deer. We have had several deer visits over the holidays, and it makes him a very nervous boy. I wish he could get over it, or the deer would go somewhere else! Anyway, here he is in the new sweater.

Winter fashion / first snow with Scooby

In this post Scooby models the latest winter fashion.

A while back Scooby got a new (dog) coat, and today he wears it with his new snowman hat. It has holes for the ears, and flaps that go over them. There are a few adjustment problems as it falls over his eyes sometimes or goes sideways, but he does not care. He is just happy to be walking outside. This is the first time he has been in the snow since he moved in with me. I do not know if he experienced any in his previous life. He was definitely an indoor cat, so I doubt it. So, let us get on with the show.

New cat calendars

Every year a good friend, Christine who writes Spike the Scottish Black Cat, sends me a calendar made with photos from this blog. I am ready for 2017 as we have received yet another wonderful calendar. In the photo below is last years and this new years. Scooby did not appear in last years calendar, but he is amply represented this year. Thank you!

Today I will throw in a bonus photo of Marigold and Zeke resting. They do more resting than anything else! Next post will be an exclusive Scooby Feature!

Finally, I discovered WP added a new Google translate widget! I had an old translate widget I made with great effort, which I have replaced with the new one–top right. You might want to get one for yourself. =^,^=
